Borussia Dortmund says its central defender Neven Subotic will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The Serbia international tore ligaments in his right knee in the 2-1 loss at Wolfsburg on Saturday.
Dortmund doctor Markus Braun says Subotic will be out for at least six months and the club says his season ''is prematurely over.''
Subotic was injured while challenging Wolfsburg's Ivica Olic shortly before halftime.

Dortmund faces an uphill struggle to reach the knockout stage of the Champions League and Saturday's loss dropped it four points behind Bundesliga leader Bayern Munich, which visits Dortmund after the international break.
