Sturridge keen on central role
The 22-year-old has been a bright spark for the Blues this season under Andre Villas-Boas, scoring four goals in seven Premier League appearances so far this season. Indeed, he made his England debut during Tuesday night's friendly victory over Sweden and is set to push for a place in Fabio Capello's squad for Euro 2012. Sturridge appeared out wide for the Three Lions at Wembley and has been used in a similar position by Villas-Boas this term. The former Manchester City striker wants to force himself into a central position where he feels more comfortable. "I want to continue playing for Chelsea and from there I want to start playing as a striker, and from there try to play for England as a striker," he said. "That's my aim, to be a No.9 for England. I want to stake my claim as a striker, that's the position I love to play. "Hopefully the England manager will see me as a striker and will play me there in the next match I get an opportunity in because that's where I believe I'm at my best."
