Spurs v Everton rescheduled

The original game at White Hart Lane, which was set to take place on the opening weekend of the season, had to be called off in the wake of rioting in London. Metropolitan Police could not hand back Tottenham High Road in time for the council to complete a clean-up operation, meaning both sides had to wait to begin their Premier League campaigns. The White Hart Lane match has now been rearranged for Wednesday January 11, kicking off at 7.45pm. Following the postponement of their clash with Everton, Spurs suffered back-to-back defeats against Manchester United and Manchester City in their opening two league games. But they have since embarked on an eight-match unbeaten run to climb to fifth in the table. Everton have struggled this term and are currently hovering precariously above the relegation zone, just a point outside the bottom three. Both sides will view the rescheduled game at White Hart Lane as an opportunity to pick up vital points, while the reverse fixture at Goodison Park will be played on March 10.
