Sporting edges Rio Ave to join Porto atop Portuguese league

LISBON, Portugal (AP) Sporting Lisbon defeated Rio Ave 2-1 on Sunday to join FC Porto atop the Portuguese league.
Adrien Silva and Islam Slimani scored for Sporting, while Gomes Yazalde netted for Rio Ave, which played at home.
Sporting reached the same 10 points as FC Porto, but trails on goal difference.
FC Porto beat Arouca 3-1 on Saturday, while third-place Benfica, which has nine points, trounced Belenenses 6-0 on Friday.

Sporting, FC Porto and Benfica are the only teams with three wins after the first four rounds. Sporting has won all of its three matches away from Lisbon.
