Former Australia international and European club veteran Josip Skoko will retire at the completion of the current A-League season.
The 35-year-old Melbourne Heart midfielder, who had 51 appearances for the Socceroos, said Thursday a long-term ankle injury forced him to quit.
Skoko was part of Australia's 2006 World Cup squad and 2000 Olympics team and played in three World Cup qualifying campaigns.
He played three seasons with Wigan in the English Premier League and had a spell at Stoke, amidst a long European career with Hajduk Split, Genk and Genclerbirligi.
