Smithies signs Terriers extension
Huddersfield goalkeeper Alex Smithies has signed a new two-year contract extension.
The 22-year-old's current deal was due to expire next summer and his new one will keep him at his hometown club until 2015.
"We want to keep our quality players and we're delighted that Alex has agreed to stay at Huddersfield Town for the long term," manager Simon Grayson told the club's official website.
"I think he can see the progression of the club on and off the field and as a local lad he has a passion and drive to add to that success.
"He's suffered with niggling injuries over the last couple of seasons, but he's come back in great shape this year and he's started the season well."
Smithies, a product of the club's academy, has made over 130 first-team appearances for the club since making his full debut in a 4-0 defeat at Leeds in 2007.
