Slovenia striker Nejc Pecnik is out of the rest of the World Cup because of a broken ankle.

Slovenia spokesman Matjaz Krajnik said Saturday that Pecnik broke his right ankle during a collision with United States midfielder Clint Dempsey in the final minutes of Friday's 2-2 draw with the Americans.

Pecnik had only come on in the 74th minute as a substitute for Zlatan Ljubijankic.

Slovenia leads Group C with four points after two games and plays England on Wednesday in Port Elizabeth, needing only a draw in its final group match to qualify for the second round.
