Slovenia leaves Estonia with a win

An own goal by Andrei Sidorenkov handed Slovenia a 1-0 win over Estonia in their European Championship qualifier on Tuesday.

The goal came in the 66th minute, when Zlatko Dedic's shot from inside the penalty area deflected off Sidorenkov and wrongfooted Estonia's goalkeeper Sergei Pareiko.

Both teams wasted several scoring opportunities in the Group C match, particularly in the first half.

The hosts' best chance came in the 16th minute when Kaimar Saag's powerful shot was saved by Slovenia's goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

Slovenia has seven points and Estonia has six after four qualifying matches.

Also in Group C are Italy, Serbia, Northern Ireland and the Faeroe Islands.
