Sky Blue FC midfielder Carli Lloyd has a broken ankle and was
placed on the injured reserved.
The team said Tuesday she is expected to recover and return
later this season for Sky Blue (2-1-0), which is tied atop the
Women's Professional Soccer standings with FC Gold Pride.
The U.S. national team player slipped and injured her ankle
in Sunday's 1-0 victory over the Chicago Red Stars. Lloyd tallied
the game-winning goal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics against Brazil.
Sky Blue FC, based in New Jersey, are the WPS defending
champions. The season for the eight-team league runs through
September.
