Siena has become the first Serie A club to introduce an identity card for supporters.

The club said Wednesday that the card will be brought in immediately. Fans will have to pass security checks to receive the card, and will need one to be allowed to travel to away games.

Italy's interior ministry has been pushing to introduce fan identity cards as a way of combatting violence and racism at games, and all other clubs will have to follow suit in time for next season.
