The Nigeria Football Federation is meeting to decide the fate of under-pressure national team coach Samson Siasia after the Super Eagles' shock failure to qualify for next year's African Cup of Nations.

NFF officials said on Thursday the body's technical committee was considering whether to recommend Siasia should be sacked. The federation's executive committee will then decide what happens to the former Nigeria striker, who took over in November.

Siasia's team drew with Guinea in the final round of qualifiers to miss out on the African Cup, leading the NFF to demand an explanation for what it called ''the embarrassment brought to the nation.''

Siasia apologized for the failure but has still faced strong criticism at home.
