Serbia beats Faeroes 3-0 in Euro 2012 qualifier
Goals from Danko Lazovic, Dejan Stankovic and Nikola Zigic gave Serbia a 3-0 win over the Faeroe Islands to open its qualifying campaign for the 2012 European Championship.
Lazovic missed two chances before opening the scoring in the 14th minute. Stankovic scored the visitors' second from a free kick in the 18th.
Zigic added a third goal in injury time.
Serbia, which played in this year's World Cup, dominated for most of the game. Lazovic, Radosav Petrovic and Milos Krasic all had chances for the visitors.
The Faeroes' best chances fell to Frodi Benjaminsen and Simun Samuelsen, but Serbia goalkeeper Andjelko Djuricic kept their shots out.
Group C also includes Italy, Estonia, Northern Ireland and Slovenia.
The Faeroes were beaten 2-1 by Estonia in its opening match.
Serbia was without several regular starters as Sevilla defender Ivica Dragutinovic and Genoa midfielder Bosko Jankovic are out with long-term injuries, while Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic traveled to the Faeroes but didn't play because of a back problem.
