Clarence Seedorf has extended his contract with AC Milan for one more season.

The Serie A champion made the announcement on its website Wednesday, saying the Dutch midfielder has extended his deal with the club until June 30, 2012.

Having turned 35 last month, there had been speculation that Seedorf might retire. He joined Milan from city rival Inter in 2002, having previously played with Ajax, Sampdoria and Real Madrid.

Seedorf is the only player to have won the Champions League with three different clubs - Ajax in 1995, Madrid in 1998 and Milan in 2003 and 2007.
