Motherwell kept third place in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Dundee United.
With fierce rivals Celtic and Rangers meeting on Sunday, Motherwell moved to within eight points of the leading pair after a first-minute own-goal by Scott Severin and another by Sean Dillon in the 75th.
David Goodwillie got a goal back for Dundee United with a 50th-minute penalty.
Hearts are two points behind Motherwell after Rudi Skacel's hat trick secured a 3-0 win over St. Mirren, while Inverness won 2-1 at Kilmarnock, St. Johnstone won 2-1 at Hamilton and Aberdeen beat Hibernian 4-2.

Rangers and Celtic are tied on 24 points each ahead of Sunday's match at Parkhead after they both won their opening eight matches.
