Anthony Stokes spared leader Celtic from an embarrassing loss at bottom-place Hamilton on Wednesday, his 90th-minute penalty salvaging a 1-1 draw in the Scottish Premier League.

While Celtic is five points ahead of Rangers, its second-place Glasgow rival has three games in hand.

Simon Mensing, whose 28th-minute goal looked to have given Hamilton its first win over Celtic in almost 22 years, was sent off after conceding the late penalty by fouling Emilio Izaguirre.

Celtic had been reduced to 10 men when James Forrest was penalized for a rash challenge on David Buchanan in the 49th minute.

Hamilton also lost a player when Jim McAlister was dismissed in the 64th for a reckless tackle on Mark Wilson.
