Dundee United narrowed the gap to third-place Hearts to seven points with a 4-2 win over Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday.
Striker David Goodwillie scored twice while Scott Severin and Craig Conway also got on the scoresheet for United.
Hearts at one time held a 15-point cushion in third but dropped two more points by surrendering a three-goal lead against Motherwell to draw 3-3.
Craig Thomson, Rudi Skacel and Ryan Stevenson gave Hearts a commanding advantage but John Sutton led Motherwell's fightback with a double, the second of which came in the 88th minute to grab his team a point.
