Scolari calls reporters 'clowns'

World Cup winning coach Luiz Felipe Scolari raged against reporters and match officials after a controversial game in the Copa Sudamericana.

Scolari used several expletives and called reporters "clowns" for insisting with questions about the injured Jorge Valdivia.

The Chile playmaker played only 18 minutes in the 1-1 draw against Atletico Mineiro on Wednesday because of a lingering muscle ailment that doctors have struggled to explain.

He also attacked the officiating crew after the referee reversed a penalty kick awarded to Palmeiras.

The linesman initially said there was no offside on the play that prompted the penalty, but changed his mind just before it was to be taken.
