Scholes: Fixture clash a shame

The Potters are aiming to win the trophy for the first time in their history on Saturday when they face Manchester City at Wembley. However the result could be overshadowed by events at Ewood Park prior to the game. Manchester United need only a point from their fixture with Blackburn to land a record 19th league title. Should they succeed it could take some of the gloss off the final, which many still consider should remain a showpiece occasion and a stand-alone event. Scholes told Sky News: "I grew up when the FA Cup was the big day in the football calendar. You woke up and put the TV on and watched the whole build-up. "So it's a huge shame, and I think everyone in football recognises that as well." Stoke's director of football John Rudge added: "I much prefer it when it's the pinnacle of the season, but it's still going to be a great day for everybody."
