Australia has called up FC Utrecht midfielder Adam Sarota to replace the injured Brett Holman in an 18-man squad for Thursday's international friendly against Wales.

Holman strained a groin muscle in AZ Alkamaar's 3-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch league on Sunday.

Sarota was a member of coach Holger Osieck's Australia squad for the friendly against Germany in March, but is yet to make a start for the Socceroos.
