Sammon sees Wigan positives

The 24-year-old former Kilmarnock forward came off the bench against Spurs and had a great chance to win the game in the closing stages but could not find a way past opposition goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes. Despite the stalemate, though, Sammon is confident Wigan can avoid the drop and he was enthused with the signs at the DW Stadium on Saturday. "We're creating chances. If we weren't, we'd come off the park with nothing to talk about," he told Wigan Today. "We do have a lot of quality and we're creating chances which unfortunately we didn't take against Spurs but come next week, it may be a different story." Sammon admits he thought his late effort was sneaking past Gomes to snatch a victory. "I thought it was. I think I might have given him a chance by not putting it as much in the corner," he added. "I think I caught it too sweet. If you scuff it, sometimes it can go into the bottom corner but that's the way it was." On his Wigan career so far, he remarked: "I'm loving every second of it and the fans gave me a good reception coming on which is brilliant. "I've always been confident in my own ability that I can cause problems and help out my team-mates by creating chances."
