The former Real Madrid and Spain defender, 35, has proved a firm favourite since arriving in August 2009 and joins Ryan Nelsen in agreeing a new deal. Rovers boss Steve Kean told his club's website: "To keep Michel here is great news, his experience is invaluable and his enthusiasm infectious. "He's a winner and you can never have too many of those."
