South African media report that former national team defender Bryce Moon has been found guilty of culpable homicide for the death of a female pedestrian he hit with his car in 2009.

The reports said Moon, who also played for Greek clubs Panathinaikos and PAOK, was cleared of murder, attempted murder and drink driving charges, but convicted of culpable homicide in a court in Randburg, north of Johannesburg. The 27-year-old Moon is yet to be sentenced, although Eyewitness News radio said both the prosecution and defense had argued for a fine for the footballer.

Moon was a member of South Africa's 2009 Confederations Cup squad and now plays for top-flight club Bidvest Wits, on loan from Supersport United.

The case was reportedly postponed until April 22.
