Paul Tisdale says he has 'no regrets' after missing out on a play-off spot in Exeter's first season back in League Two.
A poor run of form which saw the Grecians lose five of their last six games during the end-of-season run-in meant they had to settle for a place outside the top seven, despite having only been relegated the previous campaign.
When reflecting on their return to League Two, the former Team Bath manager was satisfied with the Devon club's exploits.
"I opted for a sensible, safe team, so our performances were, I suppose, symptomatic of that type of personality," Tisdale told BBC South West.
"I'm proud of what we've done this year in terms of settling from relegation and I think it was a sensible thing to do in terms of coming down and making sure we don't spiral through misery and pessimism".
Last week's defeat at home to Cheltenham ended any chance of promotion for the Grecians and they will look to end their season on a high when they visit eighth-placed Chesterfield on Saturday who, like Exeter, also narrowly missed out on a play-off spot despite winning away at Fleetwood last time out.
