Bristol Rovers have followed up their signing of Tom Eaves with the capture of former Hibernian striker Derek Riordan on a short-term deal.

Rioardan, 29, has joined the Pirates following his release from St Johnstone at the end of last season and links up with fellow forward Eaves, who moved to the Memorial Stadium on a loan deal from Bolton.

Mark McGhee has been determined to increase his attacking options following the loss of Matt Harrold, who has been ruled out for the campaign with a knee injury.

McGhee told the club's official website: "He sees a move to Bristol Rovers as an opportunity to resurrect his career and experience football in a league he hasn't played in before.

"This is a boy with a record of scoring goals and making goals and he is a very skilled player.

"He has a three-month contract initially so he can prove himself, but I am sure that he can provide some of the highlights of the season for us."
