Rotherham boss Steve Evans is keen to bolster his attacking options during the loan window and he is eyeing a deal for Grimes.
Grimes has impressed for Rochdale this season, netting ten goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.
The 26-year-old is out of contract at Spotland at the end of the season and Rotherham see him as a key addition to their squad as they look to mount a bid for promotion.
