Injured Italy international Giuseppe Rossi could be set for a move to Inter Milan in January, according to his agent.

The American-born Villarreal striker is recovering from a second operation to knee ligament damage and has been out of action for a year.

However, Federico Pastorello, the 25-year-old's agent, believes the former Manchester United forward will be back to fitness in the early part of next year and is of interest to the Nerazzurri.

"Giuseppe Rossi will recover 100 per cent and we'll see him back on the pitch in March," Pastorello told

"He will come back stronger than before.

"Inter are a viable option for Giuseppe Rossi. We talked a lot about the various ways in which we can be in Italy and abroad."

Fiorentina and AS Roma are also believed to be interested in acquiring the services of Rossi, who is yet to make his comeback for Villarreal after they were relegated from Spain's top flight last season.

The striker scored 32 goals in his last full season with the Spanish side in the 2010-11 campaign.

Rossi's last season was brought to an early halt when he injured his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the 3-0 defeat by Real Madrid on October 26, 2011.

It meant a six-month spell on the sidelines before he suffered a recurrence of the same injury in April this year.
