Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky will miss the start of the season after being forced to undergo another Achilles operation.
The 31-year-old is facing six to eight weeks on the sidelines and is also a doubt for the start of the Czech Republic's World Cup 2014 qualifying campaign, which begins on September 8 against Denmark.
"There was some swelling that we needed to get rid of," the Arsenal player's agent Pavel Paska said. "Tomas has already started physio."
The playmaker, who recaptured his best form for the Gunners in the latter stages of last season, suffered the swelling while at this summer's Euros in Poland and the Ukraine.
