Ronaldo hints he may retire at end of year

Ronaldo says his playing days could be over by the end of 2010.

The 33-year-old striker who has scored more World Cup goals than any other told Brazil's Globo TV that he wants to end this year on a high note, "then decide afterward whether to continue next year."

Ronaldo has not played for his club Corinthians for more than 100 days because of injuries, and his lingering weight problem has returned with his lack of training.

He says that the end of his career is "getting closer each day" but that he wants to make one "last sacrifice to end the year well."

In the interview on Wednesday, Ronaldo says that he does not want to make a big deal about his exit from professional football. Rather, he will simply end a match and announce "that's it."
