Roma reluctant to lose Mexes
Roma president Rosella Sensi has revealed that contract talks have been opened with Philippe Mexes.
The France international will see his current deal with the Serie A giants expire at the end of the season.
As an important member of the side, Roma are reluctant to see a centre-half of such pedigree walk away from the club.
They are keen to tie him down on fresh terms and hope discussions regarding a new deal will reach a positive conclusion.
Keen to make public just how much Mexes means to the club, Sensi has also sought to play down any suggestion that the 28-year-old could be offloaded to AC Milan.
She told the Roma Channel: "We are negotiating a renewal. Milan vice president Adriano Galliani is a friend, but we have never spoken about Mexes.
"He is a player who I care a lot about. We are talking and hope to arrive at a renewal.
"I am not saying that we have renewed his contract, just that we are continuing to talk. I am tired of reading false stories about Roma."
