Roche: Draw hard to take

Brighton manager Gus Poyet could make a move for Millwall's on-loan striker Chris Wood in the January transfer window.

With eight goals to his name already this season, Poyet thinks the New Zealand international has improved since he helped the Seagulls to win League One two seasons ago.

"We had him here when he was very young and we helped each other. He helped us a lot with his power and his goals. I think we did our job as well to put him in shape, because he was still growing up," he told the Argus.

"I think he is a much better player now. He is mature, he has learnt a lot about the game in England. He is playing week in week out, so he's much better.

"There has been plenty of talk and he is a player we know very well, which would make it very easy to make a decision one way or the other.

"At the moment he is with Millwall, so I don't want to make a mess before the game just in case they take it the wrong way, so we'll see."

In-form forward Kevin Ellison put the Shrimps ahead with 12 minutes remaining, only for Harry Worley to find a late leveller for the U's.

Although Roche did not claim his team-mates deserved to take three points, to lose them with two minutes remaining left a bitter taste.

"It was certainly a big kick in the teeth," Roche said.

"Don't get me wrong, we didn't play particularly well and maybe didn't do enough to win the game.

"But having got ourselves in such a good position, to let it slip in the last minute we really, really shouldn't have let that happen and we let ourselves down."
