Robins keen on Bailey return
Oriol Romeu would welcome the signing of Spanish team-mate David Villa with open arms if the prolific striker ends up moving to Stamford Bridge during the transfer window.
Chelsea have been closely linked with a move for the 31-year-old forward, who has been in and out of Barcelona's starting line-up since returning to play after a broken leg left him with a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta said earlier this week the Nou Camp had no intention of letting Villa leave in January, but Romeu would be delighted if his fellow Spaniard did make the switch to Chelsea.
"I don't know what Villa's situation is, but if a great player like him comes, the record goalscorer with the national team, he would be welcomed and we would be happy," Romeu said to Spanish radio show Esports Cope.
Barca midfielder Andres Iniesta hopes Villa stays put, he added: "I don't know if there's a chance (he could leave), I don't think so, although for me personally I wouldn't like it if he did, because Villa is a vital."
It was announced earlier this month that the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football League would form a working party to push ahead with attempts to revamp the structure of the Scottish game.
SPL clubs had unanimously backed an idea for two top leagues of 12 which split into three divisions of eight after 22 games.
SFL clubs had set out different plans for a 16-10-16 structure but chief executive David Longmuir was encouraged by the "common ground" established after talks in early December.
The Scottish Football Association's professional game board is due to meet again on January 30 to discuss league reconstruction.
The midfielder completed his maximum three-month stay from Derby with the 3-1 victory at Stevenage on Boxing Day.
But boss Robins is keen to see Bailey, 24, pull on a Sky Blue shirt once again in the new year, ideally after penning a transfer across the midlands.
"I'd like to sign James permanently but if not that then on loan again," Robins told Coventry's official website.
"But we will see what can be done and what we can do in January."
Prolific striker David McGoldrick also sees his loan stint come to an end on New Year's Day, with City still working on a possible deal with parent club Nottingham Forest although an agreement is looking increasingly unlikely.
On Monday Coventry took striker Leon Clarke on trial with a view to a permanent move next month.
