Roberts hints at Rovers exit
The 32-year-old has enjoyed great success with the Premier League outfit and is open to taking on a fresh challenge elsewhere. Roberts has been linked with summer moves to West Brom and Newcastle while ambitious QPR are now believed to have joined the hunt for his coveted signature. Sam Allardyce recently confirmed Rovers would listen to offers for the striker and Roberts feels that if the deal was right for all concerned that he would move on. The ex-Wigan, Portsmouth and West Brom hit-man is fit and raring to go ahead of the new season and insists his hunger and desire to succeed remains as strong as ever. "I've had four good years at Blackburn and been part of some good sides and played in Europe a few times and really enjoyed it," he told skysports.com. "Sometimes you come to the end of a cycle at a club and maybe it's time for me to move on to a club with maybe some different ideas about where they are going. "It was a good season last year to finish inside the top ten. I scored five goals in 15 starts and ended the season strongly. "I know there's some interest from several clubs so hopefully something will come about and if not I'm still hungry to play." Roberts has played at every league in English football and is not ruling out playing outside the Premier League in order to find new employers. A return to London is something that appeals to the striker, although Roberts is also not ruling out the possibility of playing abroad. "I've got an open mind. The key for me is that I want to play," he continued. "I feel like I've got a couple of challenges left in me. I've played in all the leagues so I don't have a problem in trying some different. "I've been at the club a long time. We'll wait and see what happens. If I stay then of course I'll work to get into the team. "I'm open-minded. I've always taken on big challenges in my career, whether it's dropping down to join Wigan or West Brom. You go where the work is. It's a short career, so I wouldn't rule anything out based on the location."
