Blackburn climbed out of the relegation zone on Saturday after substitute Jason Roberts secured a 2-1 victory over Wigan.

Roberts beat the offside trap in the 67th minute to divert Brett Emerton's right-wing cross into the net and add to Morten Gamst Pedersen's free kick opener nine minutes earlier.

Charles N'Zogbia reduced the deficit from a free kick in the 74th, but Wigan couldn't find an equalizer and took Blackburn's place in the drop zone.
