River Plate's Archubi suspended for positive test
River Plate midfielder Rodrigo Archubi was provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance, the Argentine Football Association said in a statement on Friday.
The AFA said an Archubi urine sample tested positive on Sept. 27.
AFA spokesman Roberto Garaycochea said Archubi was provisionally suspended and was to testify on Tuesday before an AFA panel. He said the AFA would not give information about the substance until the case was resolved.
He said that would take four to five weeks, with the B sample still to be tested.
Garaycochea said any eventual ban would depend on the substance and circumstances in the case.
"We're going to support him as a human being so he can deal with this and get past it," River Plate coach Leonardo Astrada said.
