Reds linked with Villa swoop

Villa is reported to have fallen out with Barca team-mate Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp, and Barcelona-based newspaper Sport claims the Reds are eyeing the striker. Liverpool hitman Andy Carroll, who joined the club last January in a £35million deal from Newcastle, has struggled to find form at Anfield, while Villa could be a more suitable forward to play up front alongside Luis Suarez. Barcelona coach Pepe Guardiola has dismissed suggestions that Messi and Villa don't get on. He is quoted in Metro as saying: "It is impossible to be an enemy of David, he is too nice a person. "He is generous both in the way he plays football and also in his personal life. It is impossible not to get on well with him." After Liverpool's recent home draws against Norwich and Swansea, Dalglish may feel he needs more goals up front as he looks to re-establish the Reds in the Premier League's top four and with it qualification for the Champions League.
