Real Madrid utility player Hamit Altintop is likely to be sidelined for several games with a muscle injury in his left leg.

Madrid did not set a timeline for the Turkey international's return, but such a muscle tear normally takes several weeks to heal.

Altintop has played as a midfielder and fullback since his summer move from Bayern Munich, scoring one goal from seven appearances for the Spanish leaders.

Madrid plays Levante in the league on Sunday.
