SEVILLE, Spain (AP) Real Madrid defender Marcelo was substituted during Sunday's Spanish league match at Real Betis with a leg injury.

The Brazil left back grabbed his right upper leg and fell to the turf after disputing a ball with Betis in the 26th minute. He was replaced immediately by Theo Hernandez.

Marcelo is a first-choice player for coach Zinedine Zidane.

Madrid faces an important Champions League game at Paris Saint-Germain on March 6. Marcelo scored in Madrid's 3-1 victory in the first leg of their last-16 match with PSG on Wednesday.

''We hope nothing serious has happened to Marcelo,'' Zidane said. ''We will see tomorrow. He said he feels like it is not too bad.''

Madrid beat Betis 5-3 but remained in fourth place in the Spanish league, 17 points adrift of leader Barcelona.
