Rayo Vallecano rally from a goal down to beat city rivals Getafe

Rayo Vallecano fought back for a 2-1 win at crosstown rival Getafe in the Spanish capital on Sunday.

Getafe striker Alvaro Vazquez curled in a free kick for the third-minute opener.

But Rayo dominated the rest of the way, with Leo Baptistao missing three headers before Jozabed Sanchez scored when Getafe goalkeeper Vicente Guaita left his goal to punch out a cross.

Holding midfielder Raul Baena got the winner in the 64th when he smashed home a headed pass from Gael Kakuta.

Rayo rose into 11th place while Getafe remained in 13th and winless in seven rounds.

Later, league leader Real Madrid faces its toughest away match of the season at Valencia, while Barcelona plays at Real Sociedad looking to keep pace with its fierce rival.
