Italian coach Claudio Ranieri was appointed as coach at French club Monaco.
The second-division club announced on its website on Wednesday that it signed Ranieri on a two-year contract plus one optional year.
Monaco finished eighth this season and hopes Ranieri's skills will help the club get back quickly into the French league.
Monaco has won the French league seven times. It was relegated last year.
