Glasgow Rangers played their first match since being demoted to the fourth tier of Scottish soccer, winning 2-1 at Brechin on Sunday in the first round of the Ramsdens Cup on Lee McCulloch's overtime goal.

McCulloch scored in the 102nd minute at Glebe Park with a header from a corner.

Starting U.S. captain Carlos Bocanegra, Rangers went ahead on Andy Little's fourth-minute goal, but Andy Jackson tied it for third-tier Brechin in the 43rd minute.

Rangers were forced into liquidation with tax debts exceeding $30 million and relegated to Scotland's lowest professional league. The 54-time Scottish champions have also been banned from European soccer for three years and lost many of their best players.
