Rangers' future to be decided next week
Rangers' new owners will find out next week if the indebted Glasgow club will be allowed to join one of the three divisions in the Scottish Football League.
SFL chief executive David Longmuir said Thursday all 30 clubs will vote July 13 on whether to allow the reformed Rangers to play in one of the league's lower divisions following a similar vote on Wednesday to reject the bid by the 140-year-old club to stay in the top division.
Rangers won a record 54 domestic league titles but has tax debts of 21 million pounds ($32.7 million) and entered bankruptcy protection in February.
Failure to secure agreement with British tax authorities led to Rangers chairman Charles Green purchasing the club's assets last month in a 5.5 million pound ($8.6 million) deal and establishing a new company.
