Garath McCleary was the target of alleged racial abuse from a fan during Reading's FA Cup quarter-final win over Bradford, Press Association Sport understands.

The Jamaica international had provided the assist for Hal Robson-Kanu's opener before scoring a deflected second as Reading sealed a 3-0 win to set up a semi-final against holders Arsenal.

But it was in the lead up to half-time that the incident is believed to have occurred as McCleary went to collect the ball for a Reading corner.

He appeared to make a complaint to the assistant referee and Reading confirmed in a short statement that the matter had been passed on to the police.

"An incident was reported to the match officials just before half time, who in turn told Reading staff. A man was then arrested and ejected during the half-time interval," the statement said.
