QPR v West Brom reaction
Shane Long's late goal helped the Baggies rescue a point from a match the R's were left wondering how they failed to win. QPR looked set to propel themselves into the top half when Heidar Helguson netted for the fourth successive Premier League match. However, the west Londoners missed numerous clear-cut chances and conceded nine minutes from time much to Warnock's annoyance. "I would be more concerned if we weren't playing brilliantly," said Warnock, whose side have now drawn four of their seven home matches. "We have come so far. We're gutted to draw with West Bromwich Albion in a game we've dominated. "If you look back 12 months ago, I think we've moved on more than anybody else in the country. "I would like us to move on again and I think it is great to watch. I love watching us play. "I am frustrated tonight with the result, but there are not many people I would change at the minute. "I am delighted with how we are and just frustrated we don't have six or seven points more. "The centre-backs have played well today and I think they have been disappointing in recent weeks. "I thought we should have beaten Man City and Norwich so that is even more frustrating." While QPR were guilty of missing a host of chances, Warnock believes linesman Ceri Richards had a major part to play in the result. Shaun Wright-Phillips thought he had doubled the home side's advantage moments after Helguson's opener, although the winger's superb effort was chalked off for a tight offside call. "We missed out again on a major decision," Warnock said. "Mr Richards, the linesman, was level with Shaun Wright-Phillips and it is well onside. "It does disappoint me when a decision like that stops it being 2-0 and I don't think there is anyway back for them then. "You rely on officials getting the decisions right, but unfortunately he has not got it right. "It was a cracking shot that Shaun has had wiped out, making it even more frustrating when you concede late on." While Warnock was frustrated, counterpart Roy Hodgson was relieved to see West Brom get the point he felt his side deserved. "It is a good start to December, coming away to QPR and getting a point," he said. "Their record here has been good here. They beat Chelsea and ran Man City very close so we knew it wouldn't be an easy game. "We're not unhappy with that but as far as I am concerned, every month is crucial, every game is crucial. "There are only 38 games in a year and you need points in all of them really. "You can't afford to be nonchalant about certain games in the hope that the games that come will help you out. "You have to make certain you get points where you can and we took the point that I think we deserve." While Long's equaliser will make the headlines, it was substitute Peter Odemwingie's assist that proved vital. The Nigeria international, who has been out for a month with a knee injury, came off the bench for the second successive week to outpace Luke Young and cross for Long to score. "Peter did well," Hodgson said. "I thought he started slowly, it has been a long while since he played, but he got stronger and stronger. "He did very well for the goal. "It was a nice piece of football, a good cross and I think at that stage of the game we were threatening to score a goal and eventually we got it."
