QPR manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed he was offered Alexandre Pato, but says he will not move for the Brazilian forward.

The former Milan striker is currently on loan from Corinthians at Sao Paulo but has reportedly been offered to QPR, who are 19th in the Premier League and keen to add a goalscorer while the transfer window is open.

But Redknapp said: "I got offered him, someone rang yesterday, and today it's in the newspapers.

"He is obviously a good player and I am not being disrespectful to him but no, he is not the type of player we are looking for.

"I am sure he is a good player but he would not be for us. It is difficult when you are looking around the market at this time of year, it is not easy to find players.

"We are trying, we are looking round, but I could not say we are close to making any signings at the moment."

Redknapp was also asked about the future of QPR's mercurial forward Adel Taarabt, who has been a peripheral figure for much of the season but has featured in their last two Premier League fixtures.

The 25-year-old spent time on loan at Milan last season and Sky sources are reporting Torino have made an approach to sign the player on a permanent deal.

But Redknapp said: "We have not heard anything and he is ill again, unfortunately, this week. He has been laid low quite a bit this year but hopefully he will be back in training next week.

"I have not heard anything, no one has contacted the club about Adel."

Redknapp was speaking from Bournemouth, where has been taking a look at a football training simulator.

"It is a fantastic piece of kit," he said. "They invited me along to look at it and it is interesting.

"It is great for technique, good for fitness, and you can use it whenever you want. It is a good piece of equipment, there is no doubt about that."
