PSG saunters into quarter-finals
Paris St-Germain capitalised on Rod Fanni's sending-off to defeat reigning champions Marseille 2-0 and progress to the quarter-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti rested star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic but was dealt some good fortune when Fanni received his marching orders with just 27 minutes of the tie gone.
That also resulted in a penalty, which Thiago Silva converted with minimal fuss.
There was no goal rush despite the numerical disadvantage but Jeremy Menez sealed the win when he met Javier Pastore's through ball and finished in the 50th minute.
Nice are also through to the last eight after a 3-1 win over Lyon, characterised by an electric opening quarter-of-an-hour during which all four goals were scored.
Valentin Eysseric put Nice ahead with a sixth-minute penalty only for Bafetimbi Gomis to level for the visitors inside 60 seconds.
Mahame Traore wasted little time in restoring the lead, netting in the ninth minute and Renato Civelli made it three in the 15th.
Remarkably there was no more scoring in the next 75 minutes, but Milan Bisevac was red carded for Lyon two mintues from time.
Montpellier edged the final match of the evening 1-0, Jonathan Tinhan's goal on the hour seeing off Bordeaux.
