Promise of games attracted Ball

David Ball has revealed he shunned opportunities to play at a higher level when he joined Fleetwood this summer.

Former Manchester City youngster Ball elected for a move back to the north west from Peterborough when Micky Mellon's Football League newcomers came calling.

The 22-year-old has scored twice after starting the Cod Army's last four games, coming to the fore in a squad that boast the forward talents of Jon Parkin, Andy Mangan, Steven Gillespie and Tom Barkhuizen.

"I had a lot of opportunities to go to League One or in the Championship where I was with Peterborough," Ball said.

"For me it was more about being 22 now and wanting to play games. Playing games you can show people what you're really about and I don't think I've done that enough throughout my short career up to now.

"That was the idea of the move and obviously Fleetwood are going in the right direction so it suited me."
