Matias Fernandez equalized before halftime to snare a 1-1 draw for Chile against Portugal in a friendly on Saturday.
Fernandez's long-range strike canceled out Rui Varela's opening goal in the 16th minute when he headed in a Nani corner in a largely uneventful match.
Both teams were without their top strikers - Cristiano Ronaldo was out with a leg problem, and Humberto Suazo was unavailable due to a shoulder injury.
The game was Argentine coach Claudio Borghi's debut in charge of Chile after he replaced countryman Marcelo Bielsa, who last year led the South Americans to their best World Cup finish since 1962.
