Defending Portuguese champion Porto says it had reached a deal to sign striker Kleber from Brazilian side Cruzeiro.

Porto said Friday in a statement to the Portuguese market regulator that it had agreed to pay €5.5 million ($7.8 million) and transfer Argentine striker Ernesto Farias to Cruzeiro as part of the deal.

The club said Kleber will have to undergo two medical tests before the deal is complete.

The 26-year-old forward, whose full name is Kleber Giacomace de Souza Freitas, has previously played for Dynamo Kiev and Sao Paulo.

Porto is currently third in the Portuguese league. It won the domestic championship for a fourth consecutive year last season.
