Police say Ferdinand threatened in letter

Police say they have launched an investigation after Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand was sent a letter reportedly containing death threats.

Ferdinand is currently at the center of a separate police investigation after he was allegedly racially abused by England and Chelsea captain John Terry during a Premier League match on Oct. 23. Terry denies the claims.

The Metropolitan police says Monday it can ''confirm that officers are investigating an allegation of malicious communication'' sent to Ferdinand.

It is reported in the British media that the letter was hand-delivered to Loftus Road - QPR's ground - on Friday.

Ferdinand said last week he had ''strong feelings'' about the Terry accusations but wouldn't be commenting further.
