Phillips to join Blackpool
As revealed by skysports.com over the weekend, Phillips was in talks with Blackpool about a possible move to Bloomfield Road after the Premier League new boys agreed a fee with Wycombe for the 19-year-old's signature. Phillips was in attendance for Blackpool's 2-2 draw with Fulham after Wycombe gave him permission to talk with the Seasiders. A number of clubs have been linked with the exciting England U19 international, but it appears Blackpool are close to securing his signature. Talks are understood to have progressed well and Phillips could be set to sign a three-year deal with the Seasiders. Wycombe boss Gary Waddock admitted they could not stand in Phillips' way if a Premier League came calling, but when asked about interest from Blackpool he said: "Possibly. There has been rumour and speculation about Matty since he had the England call-up. "If there was an opportunity for him, then this football club will not stand in his way. "If it is a Premier League club, how can you deny the lad the opportunity to go and talk to them at least? He will make the decision. "He is a talented young player and he has done well for this football club."
